iSight not working with new MacBook Pro

Hi, I just got a new MacBook Pro but when I use it with an external display I want to be able to use the old external iSight. I got a special cable for the new firewire connector and plugged in the iSight. It turned on for a second or two and then turned off. The OSX doesn't recognize it is connected.

Does anybody have the same problem or any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
