iSight sync issue

I am having trouble keeping the video and audio in sync on my daughter's 17" C2D iMac's iSight. It seems no matter what sw package I use and whether its OSX or Windows, the video becomes like a Buster Keaton movie moving at a fast clip whereas the audio remains at the normal pace. Its almost certainly an issue with the hardware but is there a way to adjust the iSight settings?

For anyone that gets this in the future, the problem was lighting. Once I had sufficient lighting, the frame rate picked up and everything runs smoothly now.
