hi i was wondering if there was a widget out there that worked like this:

you turn on your macbook, and your isight immediately starts acting like a webcam. it sends realtime pics or video to a widget that displays the feed. basically, its a webcam but its all instantaneous and doesn't need to have you turn it on every time.

anyone know if such a widget exists? i work for an artist and we want to show off the creation of our works online through something like this, but we can't find anything.

thanks. sorry if this was dumb.

There are many dashboard widgets that can view webcams, try searching for a few on Apple's widget download site. You will also need some software to stream the video from your iSight to a web server. QuickTime Broadcaster can do this, among several other apps. You would also need a server somewhere to host your stream. It actually sounds like an interesting idea.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.
