iSkin Solo FX Case and marks on chrome rim of iPhone

I recently took my iPhone out of the case to give it a clean and and noticed that the chrome rim around of the iPhone seemed to have markings and I thought it was just dirt but I can't get the markings off. Are these scratches? Or, are they stains that are touch to take off?

They look like smudges right? But you can't take it off no matter how much you buff.

you might want to just search the forum and brush the chrome and be done with scratches and blemishes altogether. I think the brushed look is much better anyways. Chrome is pretty hard to maintain in its flawless state.
