Ok i am awindow defector.I am trying to figure out how programs install. i see the .dng file on my desktop.does it install like windows or is it diffrent

Double click on DMG file, drag application to Applications folder.

Voila.

Yeah, double click the .dmg file. Some then need to be dragged to the applications folder, others dont.
