I can't quite remember. Can anyone shed some light on this? I plan to purchase an 8GB Black model within the next week or so, but if an update would mean larger capacities, I'm willing to wait.

I personally think it's going to be updated around Sept. when the back to school deal ends. Apple is going to try and get sell out their stock before updating to a new model/revision.

iPod updates in the foreseeable future? Yep, they are due. But no, we won't see them anytime soon. Why? Because Apple want to cash in as much as they can on the iPhone at the moment, updated iPod's would interfere with sales.

Exactly what Glenn Wolsey said. The iPhone is an "iPod" and as such Apple wants to get as much value out of it as possible. Then again, I suspect low end iPod's such as the nano would not take away from iPhone sales.
