I'm looking to transform a 2010 Mac Pro into an HDTV for casual use. While the EyeTV HD has almost every feature I'm looking for, it is missing one major feature. It can't input digital sound which means PVR material for long term archive use will be missing 5.1 audio. (I have a MacMini running Plex that would love access to homemade full HD 5.1 audio Tv Rips)
The Hauppauge HD PVR box has optical audio in but it seems there is no 5.1 support on the mac side (pc side was missing it for months after launch). - still trying to verify if this is true
Is anyone else operating a solution that they're happy with?
