Hi I recently tried to burn an iso image onto a dvd using the disk utility. I kept receiving an error, is this because I need a dual layer dvd to do this or no?

You needing a DL- or SL-DVD depends on the size of the .iso file. If it is bigger than 4.37GB (or 4.7GB in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard), then you need a DL-DVD.
