I am going to israel tomorrow for 5 months to study abroad. I want to take my iPhone 3g to use it as an iPod and possibly when/if an unlock is ever released take the sim card from my cell there and use it.

If I left airplane mode on the entire time, I know I won't be charged anything, but if I want to use wifi, how would I go about making sure im not charged while still using wifi. Should I just atke the sim card out? Think thats the easiest. I am jailbroken so bossprefs disable 3g/edge, but idk how reliable that is.

Thanks

Airplane mode, then turn on wifi. You won't be charged anything. There isn't anyone to charge you on the iPhone end. Consider it an ipod touch.

didn't realize you could have both on at the same time. Thanks.
