So I am trying to run a 27" NEC DVI-D, a 20" Apple Cinema Display and an HDTV.

I have the 100 dollar dual link adaptor on one of the monitors, one of the monitors plugged into the dvi port and then the TV plugged in via an HDMI to mini display port but only two of the monitors work at once. Basically the DVI port just shuts off when I plugin both to the mini display port.

Are there any work arounds to this?

For a triple screen setup you need active miniDP to DVI/HDMI adapters.

Your $100 dual-Link miniDP-DVI adapter is already active, so all you need is an active miniDP to HDMI adapter now.
It might be that there is no such thing, but an active single-Link miniDP-DVI adapter plus an usual DVI-HDMI adapter should do the trick.

BTW: The $100 dual-Link miniDP-DVI adapter is only needed for resolutions of 2560x1440/1600. It your display doesn't sport this resolution, the $100 is a waste of money.
