I have a MBP that i backed everything up from to two external HDD's (in one enclosure). They are formatted NTFS (and i know thats the problem), but i am able to read/write from my MBP just fine.

When i bring it over to the iMac, it'll read but won't write.. Read only permissions.

I have 4TB worth of data, and no way to back this up to format the drive. I need another solution - does one exist? or am i forced in buying another 4TB worth of storage just to fix this problem?

You may have to get another 4TB drive, may be worth asking around see if you can borrow one from a friend. I can't think of any way around it.

Best Buy had a 4TB WD My Book on sale, grabbed tonight.

Will resolve problem now.. Thanks for the assist

How did you enable NTFS write from your MBP? NTFS write isn't enabled by default so you'll have to make sure you're using appropriate NTFS drivers on that iMac also.

Paragon NTFS 12.. 10 day trial. Made the drive writable, which allowed me to get the WD Utilities off the drive, run them and format ExFAT. Now it's ExFAT and i'm good to go.
