I got this when I woke up this morning.

Whatever this is drained my battery from 100% at 11:00pm EST to 11% at 9:30am EST. I found this under setting-about-dianostic. This is the only thing there. I put this as a separate thread as to not get cluttered in the Batterygate thread.

Does anyone know what the heck this is? Could this have something to do with daylight savings? My time did change properly.

Anyway to check your data usage? Your phone was murdered at 7am! No idea lol! Possible using wifi and your internet is down? Grasping at strings...

I was asleep. Wifi was off as was bluetooth. I reset the data usage this morning, but it was normal for my usage.

I would try resetting all settings (in the Settings>General menu) and seeing if it happens again. The first night I had the phone it dropped to less than 50% overnight, but it hasn't recurred.

I would call apple and ask them if anyone else has had this incident and point them to this thread as well.

I was going to do that tomorrow. I noticed another error posted today, but it is way to long to type out.

Have you performed a restore without using the backup?

Yeah. I was having battery issues the first few days right after release. Did a full restore and set up as new and battery was good (check Batterygate thread for battery results), then last night out of nowhere, bam dropped 90% in less then 12 hours.

Today since full recharge, been going okay. I'm going to call Apple tomorrow to see if they can pinpoint what the error was exactly. If I get anything I will post it here.

Sounds strange, last night I went to sleep and woke up 7 hours later with my phone not even losing 1% of battery power.

I sat try and restore-set up as new.

Logged 2 more diagnostic errors and battery dropped 55% overnight. Call Apple this AM to see what they say.

Called Apple. Basically the same as others have reported that a bug in IOS 5 is causing the battery drains. He estimate the software update should be out in 1-2 weeks, possibly sooner. He created a case number and stated to update when it comes out and if it continues to call back.

He stated that others have had good battery life turn bad quickly as well. Guess I will wait till the update comes out and go from there.

.

I got the same message as above when my phone locked up this afternoon. Had to do a hard reset to boot it.

I don't know what kind of loop it got stuck in. I went from no errors to about 7-8 now.

Funny thing is though is the battery drain seems to be happening for me mostly during the night. Today I charged my phone full and with some usage, I am only down to 89% right now. With the IOS5 bug I expect to be around dead by morning.

Apple is keeping my case number open in case the software update doesn't work. Just frustrated since my battery life was doing good, then all of a sudden crap.

Just an update, phone tanked to dead overnight. Had about 80% when I went to bed.

I really hope 5.0.1 when released fixes this issue.

In light of my battery problem, why is my severe draining only happening during the night? Battery holds great during the day.

Same Issue

I have been experiencing issues with my phone as well. The battery life literally drains before my eyes at the weirdest times. It also gets REALLY hot. Last week it was charging laying on my bed, and actually got so hot the temperature warning came up and it shut down. Hopefully 5.0.1 will fix the bug....until then i just keep my charger with me all the time.. :(

Funny thing is this happened out of the blue for me. After getting my phone at launch, I restored from backup and night 1 phone drained I think 90%. The next day I set up as new and the battery life has been good, not excellent, but good. Then come Saturday night into Sunday, BOOM, problem shows its ugly head bad. The Apple guy did say one thing that caught me, that all phones have the bug but not all are experiencing it. My phone does not get hot at all. Guess we wait. Tick, tock, tick tock.....

Talked to a senior Apple Tech and he tried a few things and instructed me to try a few things. The updated just slowed the battery tanking. Rather then losing 90% overnight I am only losing 60%. I have put an email into him to see what the next step is.

I just checked my diagnostic logs and I have two crashes like yours. Two days apart and both happened when my phone was plugged in while I was sleeping. I wonder if everyone has errors and crashes in their logs or if most people have none. There are currently 5 entries in my diagnostic and usage list.

I had 20+ errors before my restore. Since then I have 7. They vary. Waiting to hear back from the tech.
