Issue: Receiving additional messages while quick reply messaging

I don't understand why, when you're using quick reply to respond to someone's text/iMessage, and that same person sends an additional message before you finish typing your response, why doesn't the old message slide down and allow the new message to be viewed as well. Otherwise, you have to delete whatever you've typed and back out to see what they said. I let it slide in iOS8, but that fact this is still an issue in ios9 is pretty annoying. I can't be the only one.
