iPhone Issue when deleting photos

New member here, just wondering if you guys have faced this issue:

So if I go to delete photos, it deletes the wrong ones, like if I'm viewing a photo and hit delete, it deletes the next or previous photo, and I keep hitting delete and it seems like it keeps on deleting the wrong ones.

I've lost a bunch of photos already!!

any ideas? tips?
