Issue with Apple Watch showing I have "unread messages" even after messages have been read

I have an apple watch series 6 with current OS version 7.2 and iphone 12 pro max with latest version of OS. I have this issue when I get a text message, I will read it on my phone but my apple watch still shows it as unread. I also will respond to a text message and the watch will display my response as an unread message. I have tried going through the settings but I don't know what I am overlooking or possibly have on that is causing this. I also had an apple watch series 4 that had the same issue as well. The only way it seems this doesn't happen is if I turn off the imessage on my ipad. I dont want to do this as I like being able to respond to messages using the ipad as well, but I might have to since I am tired of seeing this "unread messages" displayed on my watch. Has anyone experienced something this before?
 
Had this ever since I got the 12 in November. Reset All Settings on the phone fixed it intermittently but then turning on Text Message Forwarding seems to cause issues. Haven’t been able to find an actual solution.

So I turned off imessage on all my apple devices and waited like 5 mins. I then had my brother text me and once I read the message on my phone it no longer showed on my watch as unread. I then turned on imessage on all devices and had my brother text me again. Once I read the message on my phone, I looked at my watch and it does not show unread messages. I hope this is the fix I needed. I will wait a bit longer before marking thread as solved though.
 
I unpaired my watch and it fixed my issue. Unfortunately I have a new issue. When I look at a new text on my watch the only option I get is to dismiss the text. Can’t reply. Then once I go back to the text message screen the text isn’t there.

I've been getting the same issue occasionally.
 
Also, ever since I unpaired my watch isn’t giving consistent results on my map when I run. Not starting where I start, cutting corners, dropping out completely. Never had this problem before.
 
So my watch is once again doing the same issue, I don't know what it could be but its so frustrating.
 
I’m having a similar issue. My watch keeps getting stuck with the Now Playing icon at the top, but nothing is playing. I have to reboot the watch to get rid of it.
