Issue With Dual Band Router?

I was wondering if anyone has had trouble using a Linksys WRT600N dual band router with a Macbook. A relative has a Macbook that is over a year old (so would it be wireless g?) and her list of available networks won't show the Linksys network. Security on the router is turned off for now so that is not the problem, and other computers in the house (PCs) see the network fine. I wondered if it had to do with the fact that the router is n + g, and whether the wireless card in the Macbook could be somehow incompatible with it. Thanks.
