I am having specific charging issue that I am trying to understand. My phone charges normally with multiple different USB C chargers. However, there are 2 specific instances where it will not charge. 1. An electrical wall outlet with a built in USB C adapter. This will charge other devices any android phone and if I use a MagSafe adapter on the same USB C adapter it worked fine. I have one of those inline adapters with a screen that shows the voltage and charging current. When I use that with the iPhone into the adapter it shows 5.3 volts but no current being drawn.

2. A USB C adapter in my car is experiencing exactly the same issue. It will charge anything except the iPhone and the inline adapter shows 5.3 volts but no current being drawn. If I use a USB 3 adapter in the car with one of those USB 3 to USB C adapters it works well.

I know that the iPhone uses cc1 and cc2 to negotiate the capability of the charger and set the voltage. However, neither of these devices have cc1 and cc2 capability and hence I would expect the phone to just charge at 5 volts. I have the latest iPhone and I have tried others of a similar vintage and they all display the same symptoms.

There is obviously nothing wrong with the phone, the cable or with the charging devices. It would appear the apple device is looking for something that is not there on the socket and I am trying to understand what it is. Maybe it needs a couple of the pins on the USB C connector shorted for example.
