Issue with iPhone 4 signal bars

Hello, I am having a problem with my iPhone 4 signal. I am on the 3G verizon network and where I live I gets full 5 bars. Last night, I went to a party and the house was way out where I could not get any signal at all. Since last night, my signals bars is no more than 3 bars. I am at home right now and I usually get full bars and it is only on 3 bars. I've shut down the phone 3 times today and it did not solve the problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

What type of 'shut down'?

Did you hold the power button and the home button, until the Apple logo appears?
