Issue with Laser

Tried burning a CD with some of my favorite songs and got this message:

"The attempt to burn disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media"

Thoughts? Computer is about to be three years old.

What kind of disc are you trying to burn> Is it CD+R? If it is, that may be the issue. You need to use CD-R
