Recently (today), my mac menu bar decided to stop displaying things such as time, date, airport, battery, etc. When I tried to re-enable the display of these items via system preferences, it simply did not work (system preferences completely discards the changes after I make them). My mac seems to work fine otherwise - just this one problem with displaying these items in the menu bar. I tried relaunching Finder - this did not work. Also, repairing permissions did not seem to change anything either.

This problem also prevents quicksilver from running, which is highly annoying considering I use quicksilver a lot.

Other help topics seemed vaguely related to my problem, but did not seem to help me at all. Any help is appreciated.
