Dear Members,
I was trying to install Paragon NTFS for Mac OSX in order to recognize my external 80 GB hard disk. But after installation and rebooting I'm getting the following problems--
1. Now my external HD is not recognized (atleast previous to installation of this software I was able to read the content from the external HD) on my Macbook
2. I'm not able to search and uninstall the above-mentioned software because its not there in Application folder. Even I tried to search with spotlight but I couldn't find it. But whwenever I'm tryimng to install the software the system says that software is already installed.
3. Whenever I'm trying to reboot the system. Its displaying the message"updating the cache for boot"...what this message meant??

Thanx

Free alternative

When your done uninstalling that, go here for a free open source solution.

http://www.ntfs-3g.org/

Its free and its not too hard to install. It works well, I have been using it for months.

Thanx for your suggestion. previously i tried to install this product an Finder stopped working (I don't know why)..then I archived and re-installed the OS. After re-installation I found the com.apple.Finder.plist file on desktop. I think this product tries to modify finder's setting. Do you have any ideea about this???

why dont you use disk utility and reformat the external for journaled? because NSTF is the windows file format.

Maybe he want the external hdd on windows too.

Is there anyway we can get journaled partion on windows..

The manual that come together with the program explains how to remove he driver:

http://download.paragon-software.com/doc/manual_ntfs-mac_eng.pdf

You have to open the .dmg file that contains the installer. In there you will find a package named Uninstall. Double click it and follow the instructions.

Sorry to say that I couldn't locate the uninstaller in this file. Actually I was using one cracked version of the software. Is there any other way to uninstall it manuaaly???

I use both of these and they are great - no probs whatsoever.

By the way, he may not want to format it, as he may be like me : I have 200GB on my 320GB drive already and nowhere to transfer it to for storage temporarily while I reformat, hence this workaround.

I formatted the drive before I got the Mac.

You will need MacFUSE AND ntfs-3g together to get it working!

You may want to try with the trial version image:

There is an uninstaller inside. It is surely possible to remove it manually but will be a bit more complicated.

I tried by this method also but the uninstaller says that there is no installation of Paragon NTFS for Mac ver.x.x. But when I reinstalled, my NTFS parttion was again recognized. But when I uninstalled, the native drivers of Leopard stopped working, i.e. my NTFX hard drive is not recognized. Is there any solution??
Thanx
