Issue with Office 2008 and Lion OS

I installed Office 2008 on my MBP running a direct install of Lion OS X. I did not know that Office 2008 and Lion were not compatible unless you installed 2008 on Snow Leopard then upgrade to Lion. I can't open Office 2008. Also, I am unable to remove Office 2008 through the the Office uninstaller either. I attached a screenshot of the error I get when I try using Office 2008.

Any ideas as far as being able to get this to work or completely removing the files since I am a noob to OS X? Thanks.
