The original battery had swollen up bad and i had a repair shop change it for me since I wasn't confident removing swollen a battery. The replacement battery looks like an exact original even lists 8440mah capacity. The first one was charging too slow and swapped out, the second one after a week would not power up and when connected to the ac would go on an endless restart loop.
The issue I face is if I am charging mac os reports the battery percent at say 50% if i disconnect the charger it will then show 55% and if i reconnect it will show 53%. Same thing within coconut battery if say its showing 2000mah current capacity and i remove the charge it will jump to 2100 mah, the full charge capacity also constantly keeps bouncing, if the mac is idling with no apps open it will show 8800mah and when i use final cut or photoshop it will drop to 8200mah. I did a couple of callibrations and its the same with all replacement batteries, the one which got puffed up did not do this. Also even after 4 hours on charge none of the replacements go more than 99%. The battery lasts about 2 hours on full charge, have done smc and pram resets as well
The repair shop guy used some contact cleaner to release the glue while changing out. Post the battery change whenever i close the lid the mac does not go into sleep, nor am i able to use in clamshell mode.

Sounds like a non-oem battery. I would eat the cost (since the odds of you getting a refund from the repair store are low) and buy a more expensive, quality battery.

the first store guy had just that one in stock so got a refund, the second store also gave a similar one but there was no branding on it besides the same text as the oem.
Im in India and cant find any which will ship a battery like ifixit or owc

I had the exact same issue with the replacement battery from IFIXIT on my late 2013 15". Battery went from 90% to 5% within a few mins, then got stuck at 5% and crippled the Mac because it was throttling like crazy thinking it would go to sleep soon. It would stay at 5% for many hours.

Got another replacement, same issue.

If you still can, get an OEM replacement. Apple most like won't be able to provide it since the 2013 is considered vintage/obsolete. Some Apple stores will replace them if they still have the parts in stock. Mine didn't and they referred me to an Authorized Apple Service Provider. The quote was ridiculous. Since the entire top case has to be replaced the repair was going to be close to $750.

At this point, it made more sense to just buy a new Mac...

I thought they charged about 200$ for the battery? yes i also noticed it throttling crazy after 5% i did not pay attention to it before. Weirdly this replacement battery I have looks the same like ifixit ones but costed me 55$. Did you have issues with sleep as well?
