Ok, I will try to explain it the best I can.
A couple years ago, I went on a marathon weekend of saving a bunch of my movie dvds to "electronic" versions. I have them saved on an external hard. The hard drive is connected to an airport extreme base station. Don't know if this matters, but I used DVDFab for the conversion. I just do a main movie copy. You get VOB type files. Everything was working great while Snow Lepard was the OS. I would use apples DVD player to play the movies on my early 2008 MBPro. About 2 weeks ago I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Now, when you open up the DVD player, browse to the movie, you get a message that says somthing like, "This media type is not supported."
First step I thought of trying was to connect the external drive directly to the laptop. Browse to a movie, it works. No problem.
So, the only thing that has changed is switching to ML. Any ideas as to why the files when going "through" the AP extreme come up as "not supported" in ML?
When upgrading to ML, I just let the App store do it's thing. There was no wipe clean of anything. ML went on top of the existing SL and for the most part, everything has been good. (By "most part" I mean this is the first issue that has popped up. Pretty happy with how easy it really was.)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
