Issue with the new iSight/facetime camera?

just got my new mbp this morning, and wanted to test out the new built in camera so i opened photobooth...

and nothing was different.

with photobooth still open, i then launched the facetime app. the moment i did that, the aspect ratio on photobooth changed to what seemed more appropriate for the new camera BUT it was squished! see images below.

and i can't seem to find any preferences for photobooth to adjust. is this normal? i think something is wrong because mine is definitely not working like this guy's

really? no one else has opened photobooth and noticed this?

unless i'm missing something completely obvious, this is kind of a big deal..

My new 2011 13 MBP i5 does the exact same thing.

Same here, something I also found strange, version on my new macbook pro is 1.0, there is a 1.0.1 in the app store, however you cannot install that one, it says that it has to be installed through apple software update.

well, this is really bumming me out because the movie mode of photobooth is having the same issue.

but if it's a software update we're waiting for, then how do we explain this video?

sorry to bump again, but still haven't found any other discussion on this issue, so i'm gonna call apple support tomorrow and ask them about it. i'll post an update then for anyone who is interested.

in the meantime, could others confirm whether or not they are experiencing the same thing?

i found a way to us the 720p and that is through imovie. Using photobooth will record in 480p...If anyone finds a setting or something to change photobooth to record in 720p please let us know! But again the only way so far to use the 720p facetime camera is through imovie capture.

You can also record in 720p using Quicktime

How? QuickTime has no preference setting for aspect ratio. The camera or PhotoBooth app control this.
