Hello All,
I'm preparing to sell an older 2011 MacBook Air that I own, and before doing so I formatted the machine and installed macOS High Sierra.
Everything appears to have worked as expected, but unfortunately I'm experiencing issues related to adding another user with admin rights.
It doesn't seem like much, if anything as changed in High Sierra when it comes to the Users & Groups pane within System Preferences, but whenever I try to add another user (so the computer can be setup of as a clean slate for the next owner), nothing happens.
I open Users & Groups in System Preferences, unlock the page via the lock icon in the bottom left corner and then add a user. I've done this 3-4 times now. Instead of a new user appearing, I simply get folders with the new user's name appearing under the groups section. I log out, and only the original user account is visible on the login screen. I've tried to delete the folders dozens of times via the minus button on the preferences page, but nothing happens. I've also navigated to the Users directory in Finder and deleted the folders there, but they are still present within System Preferences.
Any suggestions? I'm simply trying to add a new user and delete the one I used to sign into the App Store and download High Sierra, but nothing is working and I'm stuck with multiple folders bearing the names of users that I've previously tried to add.
