iPod touch Issues installing iOS7

I received the notification for upgrading to iOS7, however, when I attempt to run the install, it gives me an error message "Software Update Failed An error occurred downloading iOS 7.0". Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I got it on my iPhone, but not iPad. I realized apps on iPad were up to date but not on iPhone. I updated apps, including Apple Store and retried. It D/L without problem. Don't know if this was the fix or not.

I have the opposite problem, my ipad updated to ios7 fine with out of date apps, but my ipod touch 5g is all up to date but wont see ios7

I got the same message but finally got it to download. As a suggestion, cycle your Touch's power to close all apps before you attempt to install.

Exactly the same thing happened when Apple release iOS6. World+Dog are mad keen to get the update all at the same time so they swamp Apple's network with download and activation requests.

Note that there are two problematic areas:
1. Downloading the update is prone to interruption/failure when Apple's servers are deluged.
2. Once the update has been downloaded and prepared, it won't be installed until it's been verified and registered with Apple. Again, with huge numbers of users requesting verification simultaneously, that can result in a temporary problem.

I imagine the same thing will happen next year. It would be a little wasteful of Apple to put huge numbers of servers in place just to cope with a few hours' peak demand one day a year. Then again, they do have the money to do that if they wish!...

I had problems updating my ipod touch yesterday, but this morning it updated without any problems. My ipad updated after a few hiccups last night.
