So I have an MSI Twin Froze R9 280x that I have one of the BIOSes flashed with an EFI-rom version. The card has a dual BIOS system. The BIOS switch is switched to the position closer to the center of the card, which will now be referred to position B. Position A is still the original out of the box.

When I boot into the Windows USB, everything works fine. I get up to the screen where it says "Copying Windows Files", etc etc. After about 5 minutes, it blue screens with a "CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT" error if I remember correctly. Booting back into macOS, it shows the drive was formatted.

In earlier attempts to install, it would install properly, and get into the Setup Wizard with the whole Cortana BS. Once it got to the "Getting Things Ready" screen, it blue screened and restarted. Then, I only saw a black screen. I had to pull the SSD to get it to boot to macOS.

On my initial install to flash my 280x, I used the OEM 5870 and everything installed fine. It only started conking out when I flashed the 280x. So I'm guessing it has something to do with the BIOS flash.

Does anyone know why this is happening and a fix? I can't reflash the original BIOS because I'm an idiot and stored it on the Windows SSD on my first install, which then I formatted when it conked out.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

280X Mac EFI is not compatible with Windows EFI mode.

Burn a disc, hold C during start to boot to the disc, then you can install Windows in Legacy mode easily.
