Hi everyone, Issues on my '12 MBP hard drive. (following the problem https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/bug-report-mbp-2012.2204729/)

-I changed my older SSD for a new one as I got a -50 error code, the computer could not boot it anymore, thinking it would solve the problem. It turned out the IDE cable was shot ; except after changing it + a new SSD as well (for a clean start), the problem evolved ;

-The SSD boots half of the time, I've got a blank screen with a question mark folder, but sometimes it does boot rather normally.

- so I'm thinking that's the IDE cable again, but when taking the SSD out and launching it on someone else's iMac, it shows up but remains unopenable. As I got more and more clues, I'm also more and more clueless of where does my issue come from. The hard drive, the IDE or its cable, the power ??

Thanks everyone

"when taking the SSD out and launching it on someone else's iMac, it shows up but remains unopenable."

Sounds like the problem is "on the drive" (since it still won't work reliably when the cable is removed from the hookup).

I'd erase it and start over.
