Issues with ATV2 and Receiver

I have a new ATV, I try to hook it up through my receiver and I get the Apple symbol when it boots up, but then after that I get a black screen. I can not figure it out, when I plug it in directly to the TV it works.

Any ideas? I did a search and didn't find anything relating to this situation.
