I recently tried to make a triboot system on my MacBook Pro (mid 2010) running Ubuntu, OS X, and WinXP. Unfortunately, it broke the windows (which was already there with bootcamp) and then Ubuntu broke :( so I decided to repartition my drive just with mac and start from scratch. At first I had an issue of the partitions refusing to delete but I fixed that with a tip in another forum (reformat all drives to HFS+). However diskutil gives me errors, when I try to make use of the free space leftover either by adding a new partition (it only resizes it to 2GB) or when I try to resize the current one (Partition failed with the error: MediaKit reports partition (map) too small). YES I have tried booting into Mac CD and repartitioning from there. HELP please

I fixed it

:D Thanks for the quick reply but I figured out how to fix it

1.Download and install rEFIt

2.Reboot once or twice until the the UI for rEFIt shows

3.Select partitioning tool from lower menu (it looks like a disk with a pie chart next to it)

4.If rEFIt finds your tables are out of sync press the y key

5.Press any key to exit

6.Highlight and boot Mac OS X

7.Partition or re-size and get on with your iTri or iQuad or other boot

Hope this helps anyone else who has had this issue
