Hey guys!
I have a series 4 watch which I’ve had for a year. I love this watch to death, but recently (within the past 3 months) the heart reader became pretty inaccurate. It says my resting heart rate is 50bpm, (sometimes it says 38) yet it’s 70bpm when taken manually by a relative.
during working out it will say 90bpm, yet when taken manually by a friend it’s 170bpm. My friend has the same watch as me and we both do the same workouts and his is accurate. It also makes it show that I burn significantly less calories and I get the “still working out?” Notification.
My watch is also snug tight on my wrist.
I tried my friends watch and it reads me accurately so I think it’s a hardware issue.
The AppleCare+ ends in 4 days so I just shipped it to the center today to see if they can repair it. I’m just afraid they’re going to say that it’s nothing and send it back since the online option for the repair was “broken ekg/heart rate sensor”, although it seems to work but very poorly. Id rather spend the $60 and get it replaced than for it to run out of warranty and be practically useless while working out.
I’ve had past issues with Apple where they said nothing is wrong with the device and I had to send it back a second time for them to repair it. I’d rather pay $60 replacement fee than $300-400 on a new watch lol.
Edit: ALSO I did do a fresh restore on my iPhone A month ago. It also restored the watch too. So it’s not software related
