Issues with mba and external display

Hi!

I have a 2010 mba and a benQ 23" monitor (purchased late 2010) connected via a minidisplay to hdmi. My problem is that my monitor keeps going black for 2-5 seconds every 30 seconds. Is this a known issue, and is there a fix to it? Btw I am keeping the lid on the mba closed.
 
Have you applied all software/firmware updates to your MBA? Is there another computer with HDMI to test with the monitor, or perhaps a different monitor/TV you can test with the MBA?
