Issues with QuickTime in OS X Lion on 27inch iMac

Hi guys,,

I have recently upgraded to 27inch iMac i5 and have been trying to install everything from scratch rather than restoring from my old iMac 24 inch. After installing the regular DIVX, Flip4mac and Perian codecs for some bizarre reasons when I am trying to run/open any of my *.AVI files it just crashes QuickTime.
However a small number of *.avi files open with QuickTime. And all the files open smoothly with VLC player.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS - I have already uninstalled DIVX, Perian, Flip4mac codecs - resintalled.
