Hey everyone,

Been having issues with my recently purchased LG UltraFine 4K and my 2020 Macbook Pro 13 inch (10th gen Intel). I have Logitech Unifying Receiver plugged in to the monitor for keyboard and mouse (with USB C to A adaptor obviously) and use the computer in clamshell mode when using the monitor (about 40-50% of use time). When everything is working, its great.

However, I've run into an issue: when the laptop is left plugged in to monitor and it sleeps for an extended period of time, I can't wake the computer with the external keyboard or mouse. I have to actually open the laptop and log in, and when I check the system report the Thunderbolt display is not registered as connected. Unplugging and plugging in the display doesn't cause it to get detected either. Using the "detect display" trick in System Preferences doesn't work either. Only fix is rebooting the laptop and then the Display is instantly recognized.

I've googled the issue, and searched this forum and people have had various permutations of this issue. From what I can tell the issue seems to be with sleep and the computer losing connection to Thunderbolt devices (monitor and its integrated usb dock in this case).

Anyone have a similar issue? And if so what did you do to fix it?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have the same computer & monitor but using an Apple Bluetooth keyboard w/ BT trackpad. The MacBook Pro sits on a Twelve South curved stand and the the laptop screen can be closed or open and I have no issues to which you are talking about.

I have the same computer and LG 5K Ultrafine. As mentioned by @kodabear I have had no issues since I changed from the Logitech MX Keyboard and Mouse to the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse.

I found the Logitech products very frustrating as they continuously lost contact with the MBP.

Can I ask if you guys are using a Thunderbolt or USB C connection between the monitor and the computer?

Also, it has crossed my mind that the logitech peripherals are part of the problem.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to try using Apple mouse and keyboard to see if the problem persists.
