Hey all. I've recently been running into problems with mouse clicks not being picked up by OS X. At first I thought it was my mouse, but it seems to happen with other USB mice as well. Turns out the problem is being caused by USB Overdrive. Seems there is a problem with it and 10.6.x. Turns out that I am not the only one with the problem and no one has heard from the developer of a workaround or patch to fix the problem.

I use a Logitech MX518 and Logitech won't release Mac drivers for it, so I need something like USB Overdrive to get full functionality. Does anyone here know of any alternatives to USB Overdrive that work with Snow Leapord?

Note: I have searched the forum for an answer, and the only post I could find was from back in 2006 and no one answered it. Please don't do the same to me. :(

SteerMouse

Try SteerMouse. I have been using it with my MX Revolution with good results. I was an overdrive user but it did not support free scolling on my current mouse.

Actually forgot about SteerMouse. I used to use it, but had issues with it on PPC Macs. Sometimes the customized buttons would just stop working (reverting back to normal OS X drivers) or the mouse would just stop working at all for a few minutes. Ever heard of problems like this?

I also use a MX518 and haven't seen that issue at all with USB Overdrive.

Not that big a fan of SteerMouse, it seems harder to get the acceleration fixed on it.

I really wonder where the USB Overdrive developer has disappeared, I could really use a Magic Mouse version of it.

Are you running Snow Leopard? I didn't have this setup under Leopard, so not sure if that would affect anything.

I love usb overdrive, removing and reinstalling didn't fix the problem?

I haven't tried that yet. Most of the stuff I've read online say that doesn't fix the issue. I will try it later tonight and post if it works or not.

So I re-installed USB Overdrive. I'm still having issues with the middle-mouse click, but I can see it being a problem with the mouse and not the driver software.

Here's hoping the USB Overdrive dev gets back to his userbase on the cause of this problem or people might be jumping ship to SteerMouse. I know if I have major problems again, I might end up spending my money on SteerMouse.

Ok this is getting annoying again. I just had 5 clicks not be recognized. It seems to be happening more and more. No one has found a solution to this have they?
