I am using a Miglia AlchemyTV card to capture some old video tapes to burn to DVDs. My problem is that when I capture from some video tapes, the picture is extremely blown out in terms of contrast and brightness when it appears on my desktop screen--I also made a test DVD with some video and it appears the same way on my television.

When I play my tapes through my VCR to my television, the tapes do not appear blown out. I have tried to separate VCRs in this process and both end in the same result. I'm using Composite cables, since it is the only option I have. And I am also using Miglia's AlchemyTV program to capture my video.

Is there a way to fix this? I have tried simply messing with the Contrast/Brightness settings to no avail. It is just very strange that my tapes look the way they do on my television but look incredibly blown out when being captured by my card. What do you think?

maybe try changing out your composite cables and make sure everything is secure.
