Hi,
Firstly, I hope I've posted this in the correct forum.
I have Virtual PC 5 (running Windows 98 *shudder*) installed on my G3 iMac (OS9.2.1, 350MHz, 768Mb RAM, 7GB Hard drive) and noticed that after using VPC yesterday, I had lost 40Mb from my Mac HD. I also noticed that the PC drive image had increased by 40Mb... The PC disk image is set to be "dynamically expanding" (or something like that) - this takes up less HD space in OS9, and should adjust its size according to what Windows needs.
I hadn't saved anything on the PC "Hard drive" - all I'd done was open a couple of Word documents (each approx 2Mb in size) and print them off. Word crashed a couple of times, in the process, and dumped a few temporary files on both Mac and PC HD's.
I tried to reclaim some of my lost Mac HD space (7Gb in todays world is a little small and I like to have as much HD space as possible). I did this by deleting 157Mb of files from Windows' Temporary Files folder
I was under the impression that by freeing up space on the Win98 drive, in VPC, it would reduce the disk image file on my Mac HD. But, it didn't. I'm still stuck with a 1.34Gb disk image file, which is probably only 50% - 75% "full".
Seeing as Microsoft (who now "own" Connectix) don't support VPC5, I was wondering if any Mac/VPC users out there in the MacRumours forums would have any suggestions on how I can reclaim my valuable bytes on my Mac HD?
Thanks for the help
