iStat keeps waking sleeping hard drives

I have three internal hard drives in my Mac Pro, two of which often go to sleep because they are not constantly used. The problem I have is every time I check my Apple dashboard, the iStat widget is causing those drives to wake. Any way around this? It is very annoying. I've tried simply turning off the hard drives option in the iStat settings but this didn't solve it.
