does istat pro have any negative consequences if installed. For instance, How much cpu/memory does it use? Is it 100% safe, etc. Sorry if i sound overly concerned i just dont need it that much but would be nice to know my system status.

Also, what are good readouts (temp, etc.) on a mbp c2d?

iStat doesn't tinker with anything in your computer, it just looks at it. It doesn't take up much memory, as it's a widget at heart. There are loads of good laptop-related monitors on it - Battery cycles, fan speed, core temperature (so you don't burn your nads off), battery health, etc.

I agree...With the Fan Speeds and CPU Temps and other info the use of a some memory even a little is well worth it. I would suggest trying it out and see what you think. You can always remove it.

Bill.....

agreed... if you worried about disk usage there is also istat nano, which I currently have in my widgets
