Just read a thread about istat and was wondering how accurate it is? Which one to get ( istat menus, istat pro or istat nano) and if it's safe to download from the islayer site?

Thanks in advance!

I've been using iStat Pro for so long that it might as well just come with OS X. Is it accurate? I presume it reads the values from the OS so as long as the OS is accurate then so is it. I haven't gotten a thermometer out to verify the results.

iStat Menus installs in your menubar and that is what I use
iStat Pro is a dashboard widget.

I use both, istat menu for stuff like network activity and RAM usage, and istat pro for the stuff i don't need to look at very often like detail temps etc.

I use both iStat Pro and iStat Menus also. iStat Menus for the info I want more readily available at a quick glance and Pro for all else. Like someone else said, who cares if it's accurate, it's just plain cool.

+1 for iStat.

I used it the other day to find out that my little sister's PBG4's battery had close to 800 cycles on it. I have it on my iPod Touch because it helps clear ram and shows me my MAC address, it also tells me the stat's of my MBP with "iStat Server" wirelessly via Bonjour. It's awesome, I was going to donate until I found the iPod app, bought it instead.
