Hi all,

We had istopmotion years ago and it worked well but doesn't work now so - for a fee or not (I don't really care at this point) I just want to download the newest version. I have a new-enough Macbook Pro.

I walk through the obvious steps after going the Boinx software iStopMotion page for downloading, then click on it then I go to downloads. In downloads I click on the item then a pop-up says the typical thing about it being an application downloaded from the internet and am I sure I want to open it, after which I click on "Open." Then it takes me into a perpetual circular pattern of never quite getting there but re-downloading zillions of time to no avail (will never open!!). Granted, I'm not super computer savvy but I'm really not seeing what's going wrong here.

So finally I click on free trial, which at least will give me SOME sense of what to expect, and which leads me to iStopMotion Clip.Mov where I can begin the filming process after hooking up camera. The problem is that there - after typing in the source of camera which they default to calling "No Name" (which is fine as far as I'm concerned), a pop-up window says "Preparing Source" - "activating 'No Name'"... but nothing comes of THAT (source never completes process of getting "prepared," let's just say). So I click on cancel but regardless here's the message that pops up:

"No live preview for selected device. ...You need to manually update the preview by pressing the preview button in the transport area." While there are no directions for how to do that or where the "transport area" is, a youtube video showed me where that button is. I clicked on it just as that person did, and heard the camera shutter sound but no image popped up on the screen (with either a camcorder or a dSLR - both of which are supposed to be compatible).

I can't avoid the free preview option buy just buying the software straight out, because of that circular issue.

Ugh - getting tired - have been at this on and off for days now but my poor kid really wants to do this (and I can't afford the better software options out there - plus I know how iStopMotion works ONCE I'M ABLE TO USE IT)!!

Anyone able to walk me through the steps here??

Thanks so much!
