This is from 9to5 Mac, and I didn't see it covered in the MR article.
https://9to5mac.com/2017/09/09/heres-how-the-iphone-8-status-bar-will-accommodate-the-notch/

Someone was able to simulate to the iPhone "8" status bar, which shows how it will be changed with a notch in the center.

There's also a quick video that shows how the battery icon animates when you plug in your iPhone:

The good news is that the carrier's name seems to be gone. The bad news (for those who were hoping for a blended-in notch), is that the status bar appears to stay white- at least in some instances.

Of course this doesn't necessarily confirm anything, but it looks like we will be having an "embraced notch" for this next iPhone.

The moment so many people complained the red iPhone 7 didn't have a black front. I knew iPhone 8 would embrace that white front

i don't think this tinker simulation proofs anything yet, since it's still run on a "normal" iphone. but we will see in a few days.

Black fronts confirmed for all colors of the bezel-free phone.

Nothing is confirmed until Tuesday. It's not even confirmed that there are new iPhones debuting this year. Until Tuesday, it's just a matter of which rumours have the most support.

The theory of relativity isn't confirmed in your thinking. Our theories on anything aren't confirmed in your thinking. It's not confirmed that California exists because I've never personally been there to see it. I go off of evidence to believe what is and what is not. Evidence suggests that we know most of the iPhone details with a confidence level exceeding 95%.

And how many times have you bet that the notch will be invisible bc blended in? :)
Too many ;)

I'm shell-shocked Apple is stupid enough to color the corners.

None of this is confirmed, it's a prediction from KGI, it doesn't mean they're confirmed
Lmao it's not a PREDICTION. It's his assertion based on EVIDENCE he's attained from the SUPPLY CHAIN.

Don't worry, you'll get used to it in no time. I think you were too convinced by info from Kuo et al. that there would be a "function area" at the bottom that would be black as well and hence make a blended in notch symmetrical. Without this black area at the bottom, it's actually more symmetrical to "embrace the notch". Beyond that, it's a more "honest" design (not hiding the construction), makes the display optically larger and gives the iPhone X a unique visual design cue in a sea of almost identical small bezel phones (e.g. S8, V30). You're a smart guy, but wrt the notch you were (are) just wrong. It's very, very smart design.

Lol. Alright, we'll leave you alone in that world.

I'm not saying that it's wrong, but I'm very literal about the meaning of the word "confirmed". If you ask me the colour of the house across the street, I'll tell you that the sides I can see are brown. I can infer that the entire house is that colour, but I can't confirm the sides that I can't see.

Exactly! ;)

I also don’t understand why they’d have only black fronts if they’re going the embrace the bezel route... the bezel is going to be obvious no matter what

I agree the notch is smart design and I've said such since it was rumored, but coloring the corners is not, in my opinion. When you're using the device in the dark, your eyes will be drawn to the notch because the display isn't uniform.

Well maybe there is hope for you and there will be a "dark mode" in iOS. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't believe there will be a dark mode, but I think there should be a dark mode for all devices Apple makes, not just the OLED device.

Two Personal preferences I would like in the iPhone, dark mode and an LED notification indicator.

i doubt LED will ever happen. but dark mode would make sense to save battery.

but they might introduce some kind of always on display feature with the OLED display. this way they could show some icon on the screen, when you get a new message.

I also highly doubt an LED indicator would ever happen. It's just a personal preference that I always appreciated back with certain Samsung devices. Apple is not much for customization, which I have no issue with. But dark mode Would be liked by many.

Ive commented on it before, but Apple is really dropping the ball if they are not having a dark mode with the IOS on the IPx. It perfectly compliments the OLED technology, makes the screen colours pop more, and saves battery life. They’re going to only have black physical fronts, no matter the rear colour, so why not have the entire screen dark as well when on, as at least an option, nevermind reducing the notch effect? Baffling.

First thing I’ve done in the past on my Samsung phones is add a dark theme to all screens from options to text messages, and a black wallpaper.

All 3 color options for the 8 will have a black front according to KGI

Hope not. I want the white to just own it and have a white notch.

Without a matching color bezel the back colors are interchangeable and irrelevant.

I have an S8+. All colors have completely black fronts so when they are being used it’s essentially all the same from the users perspective.
