Just wanted to find out if this was possible.

Buy an old iPhone with the most recent firmware. I already have AT&T so I don't need an unlocked iPhone and I would like the most recent firmware so I can get access to appstore and I would also like to upgrade firmware without fear of bricking. Use a Go Phone plan with it instead of the standard iPhone plan and get PDA data plan or MediaNet plan? I want to go with a Go Phone plan since I don't use my cell phone all that much, so I'll probably end up using an iPhone for data mainly.

If I that'll work, then I'll look to buy someone's old iPhone as soon as I'm out of contract.

Thanks

Its possible to get the iphone as go phone, but you would need to fail the credit check when activating the phone. The price of unlimited medianet and the Iphone data plan are the same and also on the Iphone plans you get 200 text messages.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to rethink my cell phone needs as already hate paying $60/month for my current phone when I don't use it all that much.
