iPod touch itouch 8gb song capacity

hi guys!
i just got a itouch 8gb the other day and i have 404 songs on it. it already says i have used 3.30 gb which is like half the memory. I have no videos, photos, apps...only songs.
I dont get it please help!!

They must be at a higher bitrate like say 256 +.
The 8gb should hold what around 1750 songs at 128kbps.
