An interesting question:

Why get an iPhone when you can get an iTouch and an EVO, using the Mobile Hotspot feature to make the iTouch into an iPhone? Much better coverage (to most) and the same features. This may be the one thing holding me back from getting the iPhone.

You thoughts? Leave a comment. =D

Can you tell me what an iTouch is? Never heard of that before. Is it something new?

Geez this is perfect! I was just planning on having the iPhone of my friend's. Now that you mentioned iTouch, i searched for it through Google and it seemed like they're almost the same in looks. Just not sure about the features.

Is it more expensive than an iPhone? Features, anyone...

No GPS and no Camera on the iPod Touch though.

But do you need that? Those are both on the EVO.

I'm probably going to buy the EVO when it comes out and tether my iPhone 3G to it and have the best of both worlds! :D On another note, preliminary reports suggest there will be a fee for the tethering mode, but at least it's offered! :D

PS: Math major? *iPhone + Verizon = RAZR?*, *iTouch + EVO = iPhone*

So would that mean that iTouch + EVO + VERIZON = RAZR?

If you have the EVO, why do you need an Itouch??

Evo has it all doesn't it?

music, apps, gps, maps, blah blah blah

Itouch and iPhone go to ebay.

I agree with most users in this thread pointless post, either get an evo or have an iPod Touch with mifi or just get a iPhone...... simple sorted

/thread

I think it makes sense with a blackberry, but with a touch based device that has a good os (such as android), it seems pointless.

The music app in android sucks. Also if you have already bought into the iphone app ecosystem then why switch to android and in some cases to rebuy some of the apps

EVO + iPAD = iPAD 4G

True... But you have access to even more apps with both platforms.

What would you do, duct tape them together?

I can't imagine carrying around two devices that size.

I do like the idea of EVO + iPad

That sounds like the bomb to me. I will laugh and laugh at iPAd 3G owners when i am tethered to my EVO at a fraction of the cost as their iPhone/ATT/iPad3G service.

I wouldn't cary both with me all the time... I don't need every app at every second. I really plan on keeping my iPhone or in his case iTouch in the car or something. :)

As a sprint user im going to get the EVO, no thoughts of even switching to ATT for iphone.

I will prolly keep my itouch around so i dont beat up the EVO.

I would think a iPad and an EVO make more sense. If you are going to have an Itouch, you might as well have the biggest one they make. :p

I got a iPhone to avoid having to carry more than 1 device. So your plan wouldn't work for me.

Good luck trying to get 4G speeds thru Sprint in more than a few places in the US.
Better coverage than AT&T? Doubt it.
Carry 2 devices and going back and forth between calls, text, and apps and web would be a mess.
If you want to do it go for it.
1 device does it all well for me.

Good luck getting 4G speeds through AT&T... Oh... Yea...

Sprint's got it in more cities than AT&T. Also, Sprint roams on Verizon's network at no additional costs. Plus, coverage is all relative. Some people live where Sprint/Vzw has better coverage while you may live where AT&T does.

I personally live where Sprint has 4G coverage including roaming on the entire metro system with Verizon. No brainer what network would be best for me.

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell an iTouch is?

You can find out more about the iTouch here.

The best thing with Android is that you aren't stuck with the default player. There are some good alternatives out there. ;)

Enjoy the battery life on the Evo if you are tethering it to your Touch at all times.

Yea, tethering like that is sure to drain the battery pretty quick. So if you are using two devices, be sure to switch on the tethering mode when needed. :)

You are one of the few with 4G in your area.
AT&T doesnt have 4G yet nor any phones that are capable.
Sprint roams on Verizon when there is no Sprint coverage in the area.

I plan on doing the same w my 64gb itouch but I think I will mainly be using the evo and the itouch for music

and for those being picky about him calling it an itouch give him a break. You know what he meant and itouch sounds better and is easier to say.
