So i purchased the firmware update 2.2 off the itunes site, but due to my massively bad internet i cannot possibly download it. So i asked a friend to give me the firmware update on a CD, so i put the files on my computer but i have no idea where to put the files so when i tell my iPod to restore or update it will take directly from that file instead of trying to re-download the massive file. Any ideas where i need to put this file or how i can do this without downloading the file? I have it all on CD i just need some simple to follow directions on how to get this bugger on my G1 iTouch

On PC, you click on "restore" while holding down the shift key. I believe on a Mac, you hold down the option key.

When you do it right, you get a window where you can navigate to the file on your CD. No need to copy it to your computer, other than to have a copy for safekeeping.
