What version firmware did u update to, iLiberty is old as. If your installing 3.1.2 do a clean install and then jailbreak it with Blackra1n, if you are using 2.2.1 use Redsn0w.

i already installed the latest ipod touch update which i think was 3.1.2
should i go ahead and use blackra1n to jail break?
and can this be done when my ipod is in recovery mode?
thanks

If you already ran iliberty it is hard to tell what it may have done to your device so I would hook it up to iTunes while its in recovery mode and do a clean restore and then run Blackra1n.

this clean restore will clear my device yeh?

is there any way to save my stuff :(?

None of the file recovery apps like SharePod, iPhone Browser, iPhone Folders etc. can access the device while it is in recovery mode so music files or images will not be recoverable but if you did a backup before the 3.1.2 update all your game saves and data can be restored from the backup.

After you have done the restore your device will disconnect from iTunes and reboot after which iTunes will ask you if you want set your device up as new or restore from backup.
