iPod touch Itouch WIFI and Windows shared drives

Hi all

I'm just about to go out and buy a Itouch, but I just want to make sure that I can connect to a network share, shared out from a Windows XP workstation or LAN disk through WIFI.

What I want to do is put a LAN disk on my wireless router, place mp3 files on this disk and be able to play them from the itouch.

Is there anyone in here that have experience with this setup - first can it be done, and secondly will it work?

It won't work natively. If there is a way to do it, it will be a pain to set up and use.

I personally am a HUGE advocate of Signal.. however it may not be exactly what you're looking for but it suits my needs.. i keep all my music on an external drive connected to my computer and can access all that music through either itunes or wmp through my touch and can make playlists and control the music from anywhere through the lan.. awesome software and has a completely free trial to see what its like.. http://www.alloysoft.com/
