I use AT&T forever and travel a lot to Europe so I don't have much use for the CDMA version of the phone. However, last night I stumbled upon the fact that the AT&T / TMobile models most likely have the Intel chips whereas the Verizon / Sprint / China versions have Qualcomm.

This immediately gave me pause as the available information seems to indicate that Intel has not been very successful in their mobile modems, and Qualcomm is the obvious market leader.

Since half the world seems likely to get the Intel chip, it's probably fine in the real world. However I'm not so interested to be a guinea pig while Apple breaks the Qualcomm monopoly.

For that reason, I decided last minute to sit on the sidelines until real world reviews show that this doesn't matter in practice, or until I can just buy the "Qualcomm" version of the phone.
